Thursday the 15th marked the debut of the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California, when Bruno Mars became the first performer to take the stage at the new venue. As the official home of the LA Clippers, the arena is ready to serve large crowds for all kinds of events and began its career with a star-studded evening that left both fans and celebrities talking.
Mars is known for his electrifying performances, and he energized the audience by playing one hit after another. The night was unforgettable, with a special surprise appearance from another musical icon, who transformed the monumental concert into a legendary night.
The Surprise Appearance that Changed the Night
The highlight of the evening was a surprise collaboration between Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga. The two artists had been teasing their fans online throughout the day, hinting at a new collaborative track, “Die with a Smile,” a country-inspired duet with shades of 60s-era Dolly Parton. They shocked fans by debuting the song live during the concert. With Mars on the guitar and Lady Gaga on the piano, the pair wore matching red-and-blue outfits on a set that called up classic country vibes.
Wearing an enormous blonde wig and a gleaming pink-and-white minidress, Gaga greeted the shocked crowd by asking, “How you feeling, LA?” As the crowd cheered wildly, Mars approached the mic to address the crowd, saying, “Ladies and gentlemen, put your hands together for the icon, pop royalty, Lady Gaga. You guys are gonna be the first to hear us play this song live.”
The pair’s vocal and artistic chemistry wowed the crowd. Fans left buzzing, and their enthusiasm filled social media.
Celebrities in the Crowd
Star power overwhelmed the stage and filled the audience as celebrities came to witness the show and be part of this historic musical moment. Meghan Trainor and her family were in attendance. Halle Bailey, DDG, and their new baby were spotted in the club suites. Fans caught sight of the legendary Jennifer Lopez, who was fully immersed in the music as Mars performed “Marry You,” dancing with enthusiasm and energy that matched the superfans surrounding her.
The Venue Is Part of the Show
Above and surrounding the performance on stage and the celebrities in the crowd, the Intuit Dome itself was on eye-catching display. The brand-new venue showed off state-of-the-art technology with its cashless, paperless bars and shops on every floor. The club-level lounges provided a perfect space for guests to relax before the show.
The arena’s seating strives to set a new standard for comfort, with generous legroom and charging ports built into each seat to ensure that fans can capture every moment without concern for their phones’ batteries. Above the arena is an incredible forty-thousand-square-foot halo board made with over a quarter-billion LED lights, a visual marvel all its own.
Before entering the venue, fans were treated to a new cultural landmark, an art-studded plaza outside. Fans who arrived before the doors opened could pass time at the plaza’s two bars and restaurant and explore the six public art installations celebrating some of LA’s standout artists.
More Upcoming Events
The performance left fans anticipating the next round of events at the Intuit Dome. Mars was already set to perform again the following night, and the weekend included performances by comedian Sebastian Maniscalco, Latin star Marco Antonio Solis, and two nights of Olivia Rodrigo’s GUTS tour. The Thursday performance by Mars and Gaga was just a taste of the experiences planned for LA’s newest venue, which includes an entire season of LA Clippers home games.
