Last Sunday night, a break-in terrorized the neighbors of actor Jonathan Tucker, Best known for playing a hero on TV, Tucker jumped into action, playing a key role in defending his neighbors from a potentially horrific situation.

Around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 2, Tucker called the Los Angeles Police Department after seeing a suspicious-looking stranger banging on doors and talking to himself in the Hancock Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, where he resides with his wife, Tara, and their two twin children.

While on the phone with the police, who responded within minutes of his call, Tucker saw that the door to his neighbor’s house was wide open. He rushed over and found the family scared and confused inside after the man had broken into their home. He first encountered a young girl who he carried out of the house, bringing her to his own home for his wife to look after, before going back inside and finding the girl’s mother and an infant. They were terrified and believed the invader to still be in the house.

The LAPD arrived shortly after and found the suspect in a closet inside the home. Law enforcement has confirmed that the man has been placed on a 5150 hold, used for those with suspected mental health issues. Tucker was impressed by the actions of the police force, telling Los Angeles Magazine, “If you want a quote, call the LAPD because those guys are the real heroes. They put their lives on the line every day multiple times a day. They responded within minutes, while I was still on the phone with a 911 dispatcher. It was an extraordinary response.”

Tucker’s representatives told TMZ that his only motivation for getting involved was doing the right thing. He hopes that someone would do the same for his family in the same situation.

The owner of the home spoke to CBS News about the ordeal, commenting on Tucker’s intervention. “Tucker’s great. He’s block security,” the homeowner said. “He patrols. He makes sure everything is under control. I think he was tracking him for a while — an hour or an hour and a half. He had called police earlier.”

The home’s Ring security camera captured footage of the incident, including the suspect entering the home, Tucker intervening, and other neighbors rushing to help him bring the children to safety. Others in the neighborhood were reportedly concerned when the suspect began knocking on the doors of several homes on the block, and a neighbor texted the homeowner to let them know something strange was going on. The family was shaken from the break-in, but grateful for the assistance of neighbors and law enforcement.
