Karma is working overtime for Taylor Swift, leaving her burning brighter than the sun and winning hearts across the globe. Whether you have been swooning for Swift throughout the years or are not included in the millions of her Spotify streams, it is hard to deny the power and popularity of Taylor Swift. This pop icon has continuously broken music records, generating millions of Spotify streams in a day and even surpassing records set by The Beatles. Recently, Swift joined forces with Spotify in Los Angeles, curating a library pop-up event that has fans lining up around the block.
With less than a week before the release of her new album, Swift had managed to kick things into high gear and create quite the hype around The Tortured Poets Department release. Swift made a special video message on X that she was partnering up with Spotify, and to remind fans to pre-save the album, saying, “Hey Spotify, happy release week of The Tortured Poets Department album.”
Teasing fans during her 13th Grammy Award acceptance speech (which is also known to be her lucky number), Swift’s new album, The Tortured Poets Department, had reached the ears of fans across the globe. When the artist paired up with Spotify, the partnership created more buzz around this album and brought a pop-up library in Los Angeles to life dedicated to her new album.
This pop-up event was to help prepare fans for the release of The Tortured Poets Department, which happened to drop on April 19th. Spotify officially announced the collaboration with the Midnights singer on April 15th, stating that a “library installation” was on the way in Los Angeles for her upcoming album. The major audio streaming provider revealed in a press release that this exhibition would offer Swifties the opportunity to explore an open-air Swift collection, “highly curated to represent the direction of the new record.”
This Swift installation had shelves packed with books and other “visual surprises” that were believed to be all references and/or inspirations for her upcoming release. Hosted at The Grove, a shopping and dining destination in the Los Angeles area, this event took place from April 16th to 18th. Keeping fans wanting more, the pop-up event was updated daily with new materials and was said to have teasers that might reference a few hints about what fans should expect from The Tortured Poets Department.
Spotify warned in its announcement that entry into the library was not guaranteed; this pop-up library was a first come, first serve event that kicked off this past Tuesday at 10 a.m. and ran until 9 p.m. The library had dozens of Swifties lining up around The Grove in hopes of catching a hint or two and celebrating Swift’s upcoming album.
Weren’t able to head to the City of Angels for another history book page in Swift experiences? Don’t worry! Spotify released information that all surprises, as well as the album countdown, would be available on Swift’s album countdown page and the music distributor’s social channels.
But the day is here, Swifties! The Tortured Poets Department has arrived on your Spotify lists, already breaking major Spotify records again. So, what are you waiting for? Shake off the anticipation and go join the fun.
